I Prefer Eating My Lunch Alone
To be honest, I never make a fuss about this. Maybe because I eat lunch alone most of the time. I thought this is a normal thing. Turns out it’s not.
But, when I eat with my friends, I don’t like it when I was the only one eating. It’s not comfortable when you are the only one chewing food! I demand you to feel the same as me.
The awakening of knowing that eating lunch alone at school is not normal is when my friend vents that she ever experienced eating lunch alone and that’s terrifying.
“What’s the problem with that? It doesn’t change the fact that you’re eating,” I said.
They widen their eyes. As like I said is a weird thing.
They don’t respond to me. They continue eating and keeping the conversation without me. That thing sure hurt me, a little. But, that’s okay. I’m used to it already.
If they are terrified of eating lunch alone, what’s the difference between not talking to your friends when you’re having lunch together?
I found the difference between eating lunch alone and with people. It’s more comforting when we have no burden to keep the conversation and listen to others. When we have to choose to only focus on our dish, why not?
It’s not about introverts or extroverts, it’s about focus. I am an extrovert (I don’t care nor know about this but a personality web test told me that I’m an extrovert. ESFP to be specific). But, I prefer eating alone. The reason is, that when we are eating, we recharge our energy. Energy to save because we have to deal with people again in the future.
I think that everyone needs time to be alone. On a hectic day, the only time we can choose to be alone is at lunchtime. After that, we can deal with people more properly because we already recharge our energy properly, too.
I don’t get why people (my friends) are terrified of eating lunch alone. Let alone the stigma of eating lunch alone at school is a loser flies. We have hands to cover our ears as well as to feed our belly with food.
